FAQ

Questions, answered.

What a furnishing plan is, what arrives, what it costs, and how we see your layout.

Start here
  • A furnishing plan is a digital PDF drawn on your own apartment layout. It shows where furniture goes, what to buy, what it costs, and how much room each piece leaves to walk around.

It is made to order. We draw it after you order it, for the apartment you name. Your building does not need to be listed anywhere.

  • A furnished layout drawn on your floor plan, a shopping list of real products room by room, the price of every product with a link to the retailer selling it, a budget summary against the figure you set, alternates at each size so a piece that does not fit has a replacement, and a measurement checklist naming the walls to check.

It arrives as a digital PDF by email.

  • No. There is no catalogue and nothing to browse. We draw one plan for one apartment, after you order it.

What we need is a way to see your layout: a link to your building's floor-plan page, or the file itself. If you have neither, ask us to check before you pay.

Sending us your layout
  • Three work. A public link to the page where your building publishes its floor plans is the most common. If your plan is private, you reply to the order email with the file. If you have neither, we check whether a usable layout exists before taking payment.

A leasing brochure, a listing page or a PDF from the leasing office are all fine. We do not need a measured drawing.

  • You pick the materials you are drawn to at the start of the intake: woods, textiles, stone, plaster. Those picks place you on the archive's material axes and resolve to one of eight styles.

You are not choosing a style from a menu. It is derived from what you actually picked, and you see it before you answer anything else.

Price and delivery
  • Tell us the building before you pay and we will look for one. Most buildings publish their floor plans and we can often find one you could not.

If there is no usable layout for your unit, we do not take payment: there is nothing to draw on. You can ask us to check your building, and we will say plainly whether we can draw yours.

You can also send the plan yourself. A leasing PDF, a brochure page or a clear photograph of the plan all work, and your five business days start when it reaches us rather than at checkout.

  • Price is set by the size of the home, not by what you spend on furniture:

    One room

    Single room

    $129

Living room, bedroom or dining room. You choose which.

    Your whole home

    Studio

    $169

    One bedroom

    $199

    Two bedroom

    $269

    Three bedroom

    $329

Furniture is bought separately, from the retailer, at their price.

  • When your intake is complete and we have a usable layout, not at checkout.

If you gave us a link, that is usually the moment you order. If you are sending the file privately, the five business days start on the day the file arrives.

After it arrives
  • Measuring happens after your plan arrives, never before you buy. The plan marks three or four walls and gives you a box for each.

A leasing floor plan carries no scale bar and disclaims its own dimensions, so every length we derive from one is an estimate. Where your measurement disagrees with ours, yours wins and the recommendations shift to match.

  • The revision covers the changes that follow from your measurements, and swapping pieces for the alternates already drawn into your plan.

A second style, the same plan at a different budget, or further revisions are quoted separately. Ask and we will price it.

  • Furniture is not included. You buy each piece yourself, from the retailer, at the retailer's price. Nothing is marked up and we hold no stock.

All digital products are final sale once delivered, and each plan is licensed for personal, non-commercial use. The refund policy and licence have the full terms.

  • We specify from a range of retailers chosen to cover a wide span of styles and budgets, so a plan can be filled at whatever level you set. Today that means IKEA and Sicotas, and the list is not a fixed one. We choose the pieces ourselves. No brand endorses us, and none of them decides what goes into your plan. Sicotas has an affiliate arrangement with us, which the retailer links disclosure states in full.

Apartment Archive never sells furniture. Every piece on your shopping list is bought by you, direct from the retailer, at the retailer's own price. We hold no stock, we mark nothing up, and there is nothing on this site you can order a sofa through.

You are never limited to the names we use. If there is a brand you love and it is not among them, tell us. If you are a brand and you would like to be considered, write to us. And if you would rather buy a piece somewhere else, or something comparable, your plan still works: it gives you the footprint and the clearance the piece has to meet, and anything that meets them will fit.

  • Tell us and we will send an in-stock alternative that meets the same footprint and clearance, so it still fits where the plan put it.

Some pieces return within a few weeks. If you particularly want that one, we will say so and suggest waiting rather than replacing it.

  • Yes. The intake asks what the plan has to allow for, and “I am keeping furniture” is one of the answers. Choose it, then tell us what you are keeping when you reply to the order email, and we plan around those pieces instead of replacing them.

The same goes for anything you would rather buy elsewhere. Your plan gives the footprint and the clearance each placement needs, so any piece that meets them will fit.

What one plan covers

One home, or one room from the menu, in one style derived from the materials you choose. Drawn and sent within five business days.

One revision is included. Use it to swap pieces, adjust placement within your layout, or update the plan once you’ve sent your measurements back. A revision reworks the plan you were sent. A different home size, different rooms, or a different style is a new plan rather than a revision. Want a second style, the same plan at a different budget, or another revision? Ask and we will quote it.

The terms of service and the refund policy apply to every plan.

Layout support

Still not sure we can draw yours?

Tell us your building and we will check for a usable layout before you pay. If we cannot find one, we say so rather than sell you a plan we cannot draw.
