Coastal, without the seashells.

Light-bleached tones, loose linen, and rooms that breathe: the coastal register, stripped of theme-store props and drawn for apartments that may be nowhere near water.

Real coastal interiors are not decorated to look like the sea; they are built to handle light, air, and sand-colored wear. The style's apartment value is atmospheric: maximum brightness, minimum weight, furniture that seems to sit lightly on the floor.

Where this style comes from

The vocabulary comes from working shore architecture: painted floors that forgive sand, slipcovers that wash, and daybeds that invite a nap. Hamptons and California beach-house design later formalized these ideas into a national language of ease.
